ADMISSIONS

1. Prospective applicants for Long Term Student status are those who:

a. have been attending and completed schools in the formal educational system in their country for at least 12 years,

b. are high school graduates or holders of some equivalent qualification,

c. have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5 level (or hold a score close to a passing score)  and are able to submit official certificate of having finished Japanese Language Course for 150 hours or more, AND

d. have a guarantor living in his/her country or in Japan.

DOCUMENTS TO BE PROVIDED BY THE APPLICANT

 

 Application for Admission (form provided by SFKG, must be filled out by the student her/himself)

 Personal History (form provided by SFKG, must be filled out by the student her/himself)

 Purpose of Study (form provided by SFKG, must be filled out by the student her/himself)

④ Her/his photograph (4 cm x 3 cm) 8 copies

  Must be color photographs taken within three months prior to the application.

  Her/his full name and nationality/citizenship must be written on the reverse side.

  Printed or retouched photographs are not accepted. 

 Official certificate of graduation from school most recently attended (original)

 Official transcript from school most recently attended (original)

  Document of listing grades from all the years she/he attended.

 Certificate of Japanese language ability

       - Certificate of official Japanese language test (JLPT, NAT-Test, etc.)

       - Certificate of attended Japanese language school

           Must include detailed attendance record (study period, study hours, attended hours).

           Also must include study level and study material (text books).

 Copy of passport or birth verification

 Certificate of current employment (or letter of release) (Only needed if she/he have been employed)

 

DOCUMENTS TO BE PROVIDED BY THE APPLICANT'S SPONSOR

(Overseas residents)

 

① Statement of Financial Support (form provided by SFKG, must be filled out by the sponsor him/herself)

② Certificate of bank account balance 

  This must be limited to funds held exclusively in the name of the sponsor.

  A balance of at least 3,000,000 yen (or same amount in other currency) must be kept in sponsor’s account

③ Certificate of a time deposit in sponsor’s bank account for 3 months or longer (Chinese applicants only).

④ Copy of the sponsor’s bank book or document of proving deposits and withdrawals in sponsor’s bank account for the

       latest 3 years

⑤ Certificate of current employment 

  Must be included the following information: date of birth, address, starting date of employment, type of job.  Copy of

  business license needed in case of company manager.

⑥ Document certifying annual income 

  Must be a certificate of income for the recent 3 years or more issued by an official organization.  In case of company

  manager, a certificate of payment of declared tax to municipal authorities, which shows annual income etc. for the

  recent 3 years or more.

⑦ Copy of “居民戸口簿”. (Chinese applicants only)

⑧ Document explaining the relationship of the sponsor to the applicant

 

DOCUMENTS TO BE PROVIDED BY THE APPLICANT'S SPONSOR (Residents in Japan)

 

① Statement of Financial Support (form provided by SFKG, must be filled out by the sponsor him/herself)

② Certificate of bank account balance 

  This must be limited to funds held exclusively in the name of the sponsor.

  A balance of at least 3,000,000 yen (or same amount in other currency) must be kept in sponsor’s account

③ Copy of the sponsor’s bank book or document of proving deposits and withdrawals in sponsor’s bank account

  “登記簿謄本” needed in case of company manager.

       more.

⑥ 住民票” or “登録原票記載事項証明書

⑦ Document explaining the relationship of the sponsor to the applicant

N.B.

The applicant may be required to provide additional documents besides the above.

All documents written in languages other than Japanese must have a Japanese translation attached.

All documents must be prepared and submitted within 3 months prior to application.

All addresses (applicant’s address, school’s address, etc.) in the documents must have full detailed information.

All information in the documents must match the official documents.

5. Screening by SFKG

Decision on acceptance or rejection will be made based on screening of documents submitted by the applicant, Japanese language test or interview with the applicant and her/his sponsor.

An acceptance letter will be sent out to the accepted applicant or her/his sponsor.

6. Screening by Immigration Bureau of Japan

For the accepted applicants, SFKG will apply for the certificate for status of residence to the Immigration Bureau of Japan. The results of an application will be disclosed in around the end of February for the April admission and in around the end of August for the October admission by the Immigration Bureau.

7. Admission procedure

The applicants who have the certificate for status of residence must apply for the student visa to the Embassy or Consulate of Japan in her/his country.
